WHERE YOU DO WEAR YOUR BADGE?

Last Monday I went to a ‘business growth consultation’ event held by the Kent Economic Board.  The programme was to support and engage with SMEs in Kent from the engineering and manufacturing sectors. One of the strands was on exporting, and I was interested to hear from delegates first hand where they saw issues with regard to international trading.  That aside, I couldn’t help thinking that I wished to say to so many delegates: “Wear your badge on the right hand side!”  Why do I say this?  One of the many tricks of effective networking is that when the person you are meeting shakes your hand, they see your badge and have a reinforcement of your name.  How many times does someone say their name to your face that you instantly can’t remember, try as you might?
